Distance Learning Handbook > Lower Elementary
Technology / Platforms
  • Lower El will utilize Seesaw as the primary platform for connecting with parents and students, with class meetings and lessons conducted via Zoom.
  • Students and parents must check email daily. Work plans and schedules will be sent on Friday for the following week.
Student Engagement
  • Distance learning will emulate the on-campus daily schedule (and vice versa) as closely as is possible, including a break for lunch, recess, and reading.
  • Students will virtually attend a daily morning meeting with attendance taken.
  • Students will engage in two separate work periods each day, allowing for one-on-one support to successfully complete individualized work plans.
  • There will be at least one meeting and one group lesson live each school day, with individual live lessons offered during various time slots during the week.
Assessment / Feedback
  • Attendance
  • Participation and completion of work
  • Corrections/feedback will be sent to students when appropriate
Materials / Supplies
  • Teachers will provide students' binders/notebooks as well as printed or printable learning packets for each student, as appropriate.
  • The School will provide a pencil box containing school supplies.
  • The School will provide Chromebooks to students upon request (if a computer is not available at home).
  • Students should have access to the following distance learning supplies and a designated workspace.
    • Internet access
    • Printer, printer paper, ink
    • Computer with webcam and microphone or tablet
    • Scanner or camera

Distance Learning Handbook > Art, da Vinci Lab, Music, P.E., Spanish
Art
  • All assignments will be posted on Seesaw and Artsonia. Parents will upload their student’s artwork to Artsonia Classroom.
da Vinci Lab
  • Students will find their assignments and classroom materials on Seesaw. Students will be asked to sign into web-based platforms such as TinkerCAD, Code.org, and Typing.com.

  • It is highly recommended that students use a three-button mouse (not a touchpad) to do computer assignments. While some of our learning platforms are compatible with iPads, it is usually easier to work using a laptop or desktop computer.

Music
  • The school will provide individual music enrichment packets, which include rhythm instruments for Lower El. The instruments are school property, and students need to return them at the end of the school year.
P.E.
  • Ideally, students should attend P.E. classes in an open space outdoors. Basic sports equipment, such as balls, may be used in classes.
Spanish
  • Spanish may utilize additional free APPs, including Rockalingua, Classzone.com, Sr. Wooly Pro, and Quizlet.
